Happy Creek trenches 4 metres of 2.0 g/t gold on its Hen property, B.C.

December 2, 2009 - Vancouver, British Columbia - Happy Creek Minerals Ltd. (TSX-V: HPY, the "Company") announces that further to the press release dated October 1, 2009, preliminary trenching results from its 100% owned Hen property have been received. The Hen property is located approximately 45 kilometres northeast of 100 Mile House, and ten kilometres northwest of Skygold Ventures Spanish Creek-Thunder Ridge gold discovery, in south-central British Columbia, Canada.

The Hen Prospects

During 2009, trenching was conducted on the Dyke zone, where previous chip sampling returned 3.5 metres grading 3.46 g/t (grams per tonne) gold and grab samples contain up to 35.0 g/t gold. Results from the 2009 trenching include 4.0 metres containing 2.08 g/t gold and 2.0 metres containing 4.20 g/t gold that together with previous sampling, defines the Dyke zone on surface for approximately 40 metres and remains open in extent. To the northwest of the Dyke zone, a trench at the original Hen prospect previously returned 2.1 metres grading 3.98 g/t gold and diamond drilling between 1995 and 1996 returned 8.0 metres containing 0.80 g/t gold, 1.6 metres of 1.0 g/t gold, and 0.86 metres of 1.98 g/t gold. Positive values of gold in soil occur between the Dyke and Hen prospects, including values up to 2.65 and 1.41 g/t gold. The similar alteration, style of mineralization and positive gold values in soil samples suggest good potential for the Hen and Dyke zones that are over one kilometre apart, to be part of the same mineralized system.

Approximately 1.5 kilometres east of the Dyke zone two of three trenches on the Ledge prospect returned geochemically strong arsenic values, an element that is recognized as a pathfinder to some gold deposits. Trench T-13 returned 28.0 metres containing 400 ppm (parts per million) arsenic and 0.02 g/t gold, and 16 metres of 300 ppm arsenic. Trench T-14 returned 36.0 metres of 300 ppm arsenic and 4.0 metres grading 0.12 g/t gold and 0.11 percent arsenic that remains open in extent. Previous rock sample results approximately 500 metres to the southeast of the trenches have returned anomalous values up to 1.14 g/t gold.

The positive gold and arsenic values at the Hen, Dyke and Ledge zones occur along a three kilometre easterly trending zone of hornfelsed, calc silicate and quartz-carbonate altered volcanic and sedimentary rocks. Abundant pyrrhotite, pyrite (iron sulphides) and locally arsenopyrite (arsenic sulphide), and trace stibnite (antimony sulphide) and chalcopyrite (copper sulphide) occur. The Dyke and Ledge prospects remain undefined, open in extent and untested by drilling.

The Anomaly Creek Prospect

During 2009 the Company also conducted trenching on the Anomaly Creek zone, located on the western side of the Hen property. Here, a large and positive 3 Dimensional Induced Polarization and magnetic geophysical anomaly, and widespread positive values of copper, lead and zinc occur in soil and surface rock samples. This prospective area is approximately one kilometre by one kilometre in dimension and is part of a strong sulphide-rich system that is over seven kilometres in length. Trenches were located on the west and east side of a northerly trending swampy area with thicker glacial till cover that is approximately 500 metres to a kilometre in width and over two kilometres in length.

2009 trench T-5 returned 26.0 metres containing 0.07 percent zinc. Trench T-8 returned 4.0 metres containing 0.05 percent lead and 0.09 percent zinc, and T-10 returned 2.0 metres containing 0.18 percent arsenic and both mineralized intervals remain open in extent. Trench T-11 returned 44.0 metres containing 0.04 percent zinc, including 4.0 metres grading 0.03 percent copper, 0.04 percent lead and 0.14 percent zinc.

The Anomaly Creek area is underlain by the northerly trending contact between rocks of the Takomkane batholith that are pyroxenite, monzodiorite to quartz diorite in composition, and volcanic and minor sedimentary rocks of the Nicola Group. Dykes of intermediate to mafic composition cut the volcanic and intrusive rocks. Rocks are moderate to strongly fractured and contain variable amounts of dominantly quartz and sericite alteration minerals that are either in veinlets or disseminated. Trace to 15 percent pyrite and variable concentrations of gypsum and trace chalcopyrite, sphalerite (zinc sulphide), and galena (lead sulphide) occur. Rock grab samples taken from trenches on the western side of the swamp returned maximum values of 0.35 percent copper, 0.04 g/t gold, 2.8 g/t silver, 0.10 percent zinc and 0.07 percent lead. Across the swamp approximately 500 metres to the east, similar samples returned up to 0.09 percent copper and 0.06 percent zinc. Trenching has confirmed an area approximately one square kilometre in dimension contains positive soil geochemical and induced polarization geophysical anomalies that are underlain by moderate to strongly altered and mineralized rocks. The results to date from the Anomaly Creek prospect are thought to be positive and reflect the periphery of a potential bulk tonnage porphyry copper system that is untested by drilling.

The Company is encouraged with these first trenching results from new mineralized zones, and anticipates additional trenching or drilling will be performed during 2010.
